I interrupt this blog series to stand proudly on my soapbox and voice my opinion.

I know, I know. I’m supposed to be writing my “How It Works” blog series but today, I just can’t even.

(Don’t worry, “How It Works” will continue tomorrow. I know you’ll be anxiously waiting.)

So anyways, the reason I’m standing on my soapbox today is because I’m slightly outraged. So let me waste your time telling you why.

About a week ago, I heard that the Twitter CEO had merely mentioned increasing the Twitter character limit from 140 characters. When I heard this, I didn’t believe it and shrugged it off. No way that would happen, I thought.

Well apparently, I thought wrong.

Just now, I read that the rumors are indeed true and that Twitter will soon (within a couple of months) be increasing the character limit!

What's Your Opinion?

We'd like to know!

My opinion: Twitter differentiates itself from Facebook with its character limit. People are allowed to rant and rave on Facebook (and blogs, apparently). On Twitter, people give information/share thoughts in spurts. Which is quicker, easier, and more effective for people like me who don’t typically read more than 2 sentences at a time (judge me).

So why this change? I personally can’t tell you for certain, but word on the street is that there are too many people “cheating the system” and posting screenshots of (longer than 140 character) text as tweets.

My opinion: so what? Let those people “cheat the system” and let the other rule followers tweet within our 140 character limit.

But ya know what?

No one asked me.

However, I’m asking you! What do you think of the Twitter character limit? Yay? Nay? Let me know by tweeting @SDBCreative or @kelsie.lately.

And for those of you who made it to the end, thanks for reading my rant.

Rant over (for now).
