So with all this political talk going on for the past 18 months, I’ve seen a lot of “open letters.” I’ve appreciated some and eye-rolled others, but they all include a perspective regarding a certain topic. If you’ve read an open letter before, you know that they’re often critical, but not always. I’m hoping my open letter to traditional advertisers is both enlightening and insightful.
Here it goes.
Dear traditional advertisers,
First of all, I understand. I understand why you choose traditional methods of advertising such as newspaper, TV and radio. I get the fact that it is comfortable. It’s what you’ve always done, and it’s the easy thing to do.
If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
I know that you spend a lot of money on traditional advertising, too. In fact, it’s down right expensive to advertise your business.
But if you’re going to spend the money, don’t you want your advertising to work? Don’t you want it to be an effective way of exposing your business and creating an awareness of your brand?
Of course you do.
So please, traditional advertisers, stop your traditional advertising.
But wait, you may protest. I don’t want to put the effort into anything else. I wouldn’t even know where to start with Facebook or a website or any of that nonsense!
Let me say, I understand that too. The unknown can be scary. But there can be opportunity in the unknown. Take the leap.
And honestly, businesses like ours exist for businesses like yours.
You don’t want to develop a marketing strategy or build a website. We do. You don’t want to run digital ads or create content. We do. We want to grow your business. Your success is our success.
