It’s the question all of your consumers are asking.
How can THEY benefit from following YOU (and if you’re being honest, it’s a question you ask when you’re the consumer). So, that brings us to our last tip on how to promote your business online, offer incentive.
Provide benefit to your customers for following you by offering an incentive. Not just any incentive, however. An incentive that they consider valuable…valuable enough to be giving you their time. Ask yourself these questions:
- What does my consumer want?
- What does my consumer value?
- How can I give my consumer what they want?
One of the best ways to promote your business online and offer incentives (that your consumer wants) is to provide helpful tips. So, let’s consider an example:
You own a small plumbing company. You have a social media presence, but would love to see it grow. Not only that, but you are really looking to increase your contact database. What incentives can you offer to achieve these goals? You consider the questions above. You consumer wants piece of mind that their plumbing systems are working (and will continue to work) properly. You consumer values the comfort that properly functioning plumbing provides. On your website, you can blog about different plumbing tips that could prevent a plumbing emergency (how to tell if your water heater is about to go out, signs to look for that your air conditioner needs work, etc.) Consider creating an infographic or some type of guide to share with your consumers to provide them with the incentive to follow you.
HINT: Remember that just 2 or 3 brilliant tips are much better than a long list of useless ones. Think quality not quantity.
Another way to promote your business online and offer incentives is to share new studies or research, relevant to your industry. Let’s consider another example:
You are a pediatric doctor and a new study is released announcing the development of a new vaccine that could prevent pediatric cancer. This information is most definitely relevant to your industry and would make excellent content for you to share. So, make this announcement on your social media platforms with a link to a blog that you’ve written (or that another trusted professional has written) with the expert insight you want parents to know. This content establishes you as an industry leader in the mind of your patients/parents and helps develop awareness of your credibility.
