Ya know, I was thinking just the other day…when people ask me what I do, I feel the need to not only say “marketing,” but what part of marketing I’m in. Which led me to think about how many different aspects of marketing there actually are. Like in any industry, these different aspects, coming from people with various strengths, come together to create an entire workforce.

Deep, I know.

In my blog series this week, I’d like to further explore the components of marketing and what they mean for your business.

Online Marketing

Of course, I’d like to start with the aspect of marketing I know best. Online marketing. This type of marketing goes by many names; digital marketing, Internet marketing, inbound marketing, etc. but I like to refer to it as online marketing because to me, it makes the most sense.

Online marketing is the “new way” of marketing a business. It’s opposite from traditional forms of marketing your business (print, radio, TV), as online marketing attracts people, as opposed to interrupting people.

Marketing Has Lots Of Moving Parts...

We'd be happy to tell you more!

Wouldn’t we all rather be attracted than interrupted?

Online marketing gains the attention of a customer by providing them with helpful, relevant, or entertaining content. While this may not be directly selling your product or service, it certainly creates an awareness of your name and a trustworthiness of your brand. So when someone does need your product or service, they think of you first.

An online marketing plan involves several components:

  • Website development
  • SEO
  • Content publishing
  • Social media (posting and monitoring)
  • Email marketing
  • Online advertising

As you might imagine, these components are not solely in the hands of just one person. Because everyone has different strengths, we all have different responsibilities. Tomorrow we’ll discuss creative development.

Wondering what that even means??

You’ll find out tomorrow…
