This week, we’re giving you the facts on digital marketing (who, what, when, where and why). Yesterday, we told you all about who could be targeted with digital marketing. Next, we’re on to the “what” of marketing on a digital level. Read on!

What Is Digital Marketing?

It might have been best to start with this one yesterday, but that throws off the whole “who, what, when, where and why” scheme, so we’re covering it today!

When asked “what” something is, I find it necessary to include a legit, dictionary definition. Then, I find it necessary to interpret said definition.

According to Techopedia:

“Digital marketing is a broad term that refers to various and different promotional techniques deployed to reach customers via digital technologies.

Digital marketing is embodied by an extensive selection of service, product and brand marketing tactics, which mainly use the Internet as a core promotional medium, in addition to mobile and traditional TV and radio.

Digital marketing is also known as Internet marketing, but their actual processes differ, as digital marketing is considered more targeted, measurable and interactive.”

Digital Marketing Will Work For You!

We'll tell you how.

Okay, so broken down, digital marketing is essentially the collection of several online tools used to create, maintain and supplement a digital presence. What online tools are used? See below.

  • Social media posts/management
  • Email campaigns
  • Online advertising (social media, search engine advertising, etc.)
  • Content publishing (blogs, website management, etc.)

All of these online tools work together to create “digital marketing.” While each individual tool can work alone, they work best together. This is why we stress the importance of FULL digital marketing at SDB. It’s like an ice-cream sundae. The ice-cream is good by itself…but it’s so much better with toppings, syrup, whipped cream and a cherry!

So, now that you know the “who” and the “what” of marketing digitally, you may be wondering how you can start a digital marketing plan for your business. Well, you’re in luck! We can help. Contact us by submitting the form above!
