Does The iPhone 6 Live Up To The Hype?

It’s here…the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Apple’s big unveiling of their “next big thing.” Apple has been pretty good at outdoing themselves with their product launches. But did yesterday’s iPhone 6 reveal live up to all the hype??

Okay, maybe that’s just my (Apple die-hard) opinion. So let me be objective and give you the facts. Then you can decide for yourself.

There are two versions of the iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus (ranging from $199 to $499). Pre-order begins September 12, but they aren’t available until September 19.

Features Include:

  • Some display features of the new iPhone 6 are rounder edges, 4.7 inch (5.5 inch for the Plus) screen, more than a billion (with a B) pixels, Retina HD display (most advanced ever designed), and the capability to tilt your phone into landscape mode. The iPhone 6 Plus screen is 89% bigger than that of the iPhone 5s.
  • Both phones have an 8MP iSight Camera and are able to focus twice as fast as the iPhone 5s (think DSLR function for all you photographers out there) and shoot 1080p video at 30 or 60 frames/second (slow mo mode is 120 or 240 frames/second), plus the ability to adjust the shot before taking it (brightness, contrast, cropping, etc.)
  • The iPhone 6 will have 50 hours of audio playback, and the iPhone 6 Plus will have 80.
  • Other new features include the Health App, which will track everything from steps taken to calories consumed, as well as Apple Pay which eliminates the need for a credit card. Using your iPhone 6 or Apple Watch (see below), you can pay in an “easy, secure, and private way.”
The Apple Watch, starting at $349.

The rumors are true…the Apple Watch.

The Apple Watch also made its’ debut at yesterday’s event, but it won’t be available until early next year. It will come in 3 styles: Watch, Watch Sport, and Watch Edition. All styles will have a flexible retina display, and a digital “crown” from scrolling and making selections. You can customize the face, receive messages, and monitor your heart rate. Starting price…$349.

So there it is. The high points of Apple’s big release. I’ll let you decide for yourself if Apple has outdone themselves, because you already know my take on it. I may or may not be one of those crazies sitting outside for her new iPhone…
