This week, we’ve been talking about the bad website blues. Because don’t bad websites make you sad??

Okay maybe that’s just me.

But how do you know if your website is bad? There are several symptoms, but so far we’ve covered mobile responsiveness and website navigation…today, we are talking about the importance of images.

Do you know just how important website images are?

Sure, they make your website pretty, but website images can also help your website show up at the top of search engine results!

You see, Google is all about delivering the content that people want to see. When someone finds a website that is crowded with nothing but text, they click away. People don’t want to see that.

Got The Bad Website Blues?

We know the cure!

What they do want to see is a website that not only has helpful text, but also images to further explain, catch the eye and break up the text.

Google knows that.

So, what do they do? They rank websites with a balance of images and text higher than a website with just images. But, Google doesn’t have eyes, so how do they know that the website images are there? AND that they are relevant to a website??

That is part of the optimization process. Using image titles, alternative text (alt text) and captions, Google is able to recognize images and determine their relevancy.

More optimized images = higher Google ranking

Interesting, huh?

Of course, optimized website images are just one piece of the SEO puzzle. For more information on what it takes to have an awesome website, check back tomorrow as we continue our series!
